The Goal of Christian Life

Scriptures: Philippians 3

I. Continue to rejoice and delight in the Lord – safeguard for us. (v1)

II. Worship in the Spirit of God and glory in Christ Jesus – put no confidence in the flesh therefore beware of false workers. (v2-6)

III. Count all things as loss – in order to gain Christ our Lord. (v7-8)

IV. Not having our own righteousness but that of Christ from God through faith. (v9)

1. Know Him and power of His resurrection. (v10)
2. The fellowship of His sufferings. (v10)
3. Conformed to His death. (v10)
4. Attained the resurrection from the death. (v11)

V. Press on toward the goal. (v12)

1. Not to regard as having laid hold of it yet. (v13)
2. Forgetting what lies behind. (v13)
3. Reaching forward what lies ahead. (v13)
4. Pressing forward toward the goal for the prize of the upward calling of God in Christ Jesus. (v14)
5. Living to that same standard that we have attain.

VI. Walk according to the pattern set. (v17)

1. Don’t be enemies of the cross. (v18-19)
2. We are citizens of heaven. (v20)
3. We eagerly wait for the Savior who will transform our body from humble state into conformity to the body of His glory, by the exertion of His power. (v21)
