Predestination and Calling

Scriptures: Romans 8:30, 2 Tim 1:9, Phil 3:14-15, Heb 3:1, 1 Pet 2:9, Gal 5:13, 1 Cor 1:9

I. General Calling – Universal calling of God to all. Sincere on God’s part but not effective as man rejected it.

II. Special, particular, special, personal, discriminating and unconquerable calling.

A. Illustration of calling.
i. Calling of Lazarus
ii. Calling of Saul of Tarsus
iii. Calling of Zaccheus.
iv. Calling of Abraham
v. Calling of Samuel

B. Examination of calling.
i. Calling not according to our works but according to God’s purpose and grace. (2 Tim 1:9)
ii. Upward calling of God in Christ Jesus (Phil 3:14-15)
iii. Heavenly calling of God (Heb 3:1)
iv. Called you out of darkness into His marvelous light.(1 Pet 2:9)
v. Called into liberty. (5 Gal 5:13)
vi. Called into the fellowship of His Son (1 Cor 1:9)
