Jesus – The Root of David
Passages: 1 Sam 13:14, Ps 89:20-29, Ps 78:70, Matt 22:41-46, Mk 12: 35-37, Ps 110, 1 Sam 16:1, Rom 1:5-6, Rev 5:4-6, 22:16, 20:4-6
I. The Lord hath sought Him a man after His own heart. (1 Sam 13:14) – we are being scrutinized, watched, tested daily to see if we are faithful.
II. I have found David my servant. (Psalms 89:20) – David was found long before Samuel sent for him.
III. He chose David His servant. (Psalms 78:70) – David acknowledged over and over again that he was only God’s servant. As David and Paul, we should confess that we’re only servants. (2 Sam 7)
IV. LORD has appointed him as ruler over His people. (1 Sam 13:14) – appointment is of God. Only are those fitted for God’s service and faithful will be appointed by God.
V. David himself calls Him ‘Lord’. (Matt 22:41, Mk 12:37)
VI. Overcomers will reign with Christ for a thousand years. (Rev 20:4-6)
