Behold the Man Who Heals
Scriptures: Luke 5:12-26
Intro: Jesus came for the sick (Exodus 15:26, Luke 5:31)

- Jesus heals our sin nature (5:12-16)
- He is willing — Incarnation
- He touched us — one with us
- He makes us clean —fit and acceptable for God
- How can we be made clean from our sin nature?:
- We must know and acknowledge our fallen state
- We must come to Jesus in humility for mercy
- We will be justified by Jesus’ sacrifice and be acceptable to God
- Jesus heals the consequence of our sin (5:17-26)
- The Son of Man has authority on earth to forgive sins
- Paralysis — the consequence of sin is powerlessness of life
- How can we receive His healing?:
- We come to Jesus even though we are too weak to come on our own
ii. The power of the Holy Spirit is our power for our new life
Conclusion:
- God heals the root of our sickness — sin. The physical infirmity is only the symptom.
- The cleansing of sin in Jesus is complete now. The mending of the physical body is temporary. The completion of our healing is in our resurrection body.
- We live in the imperfect temporal bodies by the power of the Holy Spirit for the glory of God.
