Hearing God in the Midst of Noises
I. We are drown in the noises of our time:
● The noise of secular culture
● The noise of ear-tickling religious teachings
● The noise of our inner struggles
II. Our vital need of the voice of God:
John 10:1-4
1 “Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but climbs in by some other way, is a thief and a robber. 2 The one who enters by the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. 3 The gatekeeper opens the gate for him, and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. 4 When He has brought out all His own, He goes on ahead of them, and His sheep follow Him because they know His voice.
III. The voice of God above all noises:
● God spoke the universe into existence
● God spoke to Adam and Eve in Eden before and after the Fall
● God spoke variously to the forefathers of old, and now to humanity through His Son (Heb 1:1, 2)
IV. How do we hear God?
● Know His written Word — God-breathed words (2 Tim 3:16)
● Train our spiritual sensitivity — communion with Christ in the Holy Spirit (1 Jn 2:27)
● Choose our companies — run with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart. (2 Tim 2:22)
