The World Hates Us
Scriptures: John 15:18-6:4
Introduction
I. Why Does the World Hate Us? (15:18-24; 16:1-3)
1. The world hates Jesus and thus it hates us. (vs. 18, 20-21)
2. The world hates us because we are not of the world. (v. 19)
3. The world hates us because it does not know God. (vs. 21, 23-24; 16:3)
II. How Does the World Act Out Its Hatred Toward Us? (16:1-3)
1. The world will ostracize us. (16:2)
2. The world will hurt us physically. (16:2-4)
III. How Than Should We Respond in Light of The World’s Hostility Toward Us?
1. We should be prepared for the coming of Christian persecution. (16:1-4)
2. We should maintain a “positive energy” in witnessing for the Truth. (15:26-27)
3. We should counteract the world’s hatred with Christian love. (Matt 5:44)
