What Are We Waiting and Groaning For?

Scripture: Romans 8:18-30

Introduction: All of us have involuntarily boarded on this “Covid-19 Route 2020” train and journeyed together into a seemingly endless dark tunnel since March, with no trace of light in sight indicating the end of the tunnel. Most of the passengers onboard have become scared, anxious, angry, feeling helpless or even hopeless.

And on top of this catastrophe, we also encounter hurricane, extreme heat wave, flooding and devastating wild fires and earthquakes along the way. And we began to groan, and anxiously waiting for the end of the tunnel to appear. Yet, the tunnel seems to get even darker with every mile we travel.

Where is this train leading us to? Why are we groaning? What is it that we are desperately waiting for? Where could we find answer to these questions? Fortunately, the answers are found in our scriptural passage this morning.
