A New Covenant

Scriptures: Hebrews 9:1-10

I. First Covenant – regulations for worship and an earthly place of Holiness (Heb 9:1-5)

1. First section (Holy Place) – first curtain

a. Lampstand (John 8:12, 9:5, 11:9,, Matt 5:14, Phil 2:15)
b. Table
c. Bread (John 6:22,33,35,48,51)

2. Second section (Most Holy Place) – second curtain

a. Golden altar of incense (Rev 5:7-9, 8:2-4)
b. Ark of the Covenant (covered all sides with gold)

i. Golden urn (manna)
ii. Aaron’s staff that budded
iii. Tablets of covenant.
iv. Cherubim of glory overshadowing mercy seat.

II. Ministry of the priest. (Heb 9:6-10)

1. First section – Priests performing their ritual duties regularly.

2. Second section – High Priest goes once a year taking blood

a. Offers for Himself
b. Unintentional sins of the people.

3. Gifs and sacrifices offered –

a. Can’t perfect the conscience of the worshiper
b. Deal only with food and drink, various washings, regulations for the body imposed until the time of reformation.

III. Full accomplishment of God’s new covenant – Curtain torn (Matt 27:51, Mark 15:38, Luke 23:45)

1. New and living way (Heb 10:19-21)
2. Be like little children (Matt 11:25, 19:14, Luke 10:21, John 13:33, Gal 4:19)
3. Press toward the goal (Phil 3:10-15)

a. Know Jesus and power of His resurrection
b. Not that I have obtained it(perfection), but I press on toward the goal
c. Forgetting the past, press to the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

1. Parking: We continue to reserve our church parking spaces on Sunday for the elderly, those with children and those with special needs. We are grateful to the Lord that our brothers have secured permission from Dr. Howard Chen’s Orthodontics clinic for the use of his parking lot at 318 N Garfield Ave., which is conveniently located on the same side as our church and adjacent to Dim Sum Express. Please click here for reference. The lot offers 30 parking spaces, and we encourage all congregants to fully utilize these spaces. Please ensure that you park within the designated lines, lock your doors and windows, refrain from leaving valuables in your vehicles, and maintain cleanliness in the parking area. This arrangement is available every Sunday from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
2. In-Person Meeting: Welcome back! English group, Chinese group and children Sunday School is back to in person meetings. Our meeting schedule has changed, Sunday morning starts 9:15AM with Breaking of Bread followed by worship and message at 10:00AM. Please refer to the schedule for details.
3. Prayer Meeting: Prayer Meetings are Tuesdays from 8:00 to 9:15PM, joining via Webex for the combined session of the meeting (Meeting number: 6 2 7 5 6 4 2 7 4 Password: 4 0 0 0). We are using Zoom for the English group session, please reach out to Richer for login information.
4. Bible Reading Plan: For 2024 Bible-in-a-year reading, we will follow “More Jesus Reading Plan 365” and will read through the Bible in a year. With a reading plan, we can keep one another accountable in our Bible reading. For more details or to join the plan, click here.
