Solid Principles of Church Giving

Scriptures: 2 Corinthians 9:5-13

Recently I saw an article in Washington Post entitled “Church Donations Have plunged Because of the Coronavirus. Some Churches won’t Survive.” It makes me feel really sorry and sad. I think this must be due to some Christian’s misconception concerning church donation. So I chose to speak on a special topic this morning–Solid Principles of Church Giving.” I hope this will help brothers and sisters in gaining a solid biblical knowledge and correct perspective of church donation. We will draw from 2 Cor 9:1-13 three important principles or “Laws” concerning church donation.

1. The Law of True Ownership (2 Cor 9:8, 10-11) (1 Cor 4:1-1)
2. The Law of True Multiplication (2 Cor 8:1-5; 9:6, 12)
3. The Law of True Joy (2 Cor 9:7, 12-13)

Conclusion:
If we acknowledge that God is the true owner of all our possession, it would be easier for us to give willingly without struggling. If we acknowledge that God will bless and reward us a hundred times of what we willingly give from our heart, it would be easier for us to donate generously. And if we acknowledge that it is a win-win-win deal if we give generously and cheerfully, there is nothing that can stop us from giving generously for our church ministries.
