Elements of Christian Growth – Second Coming Preparation

Passages: 2 Peter 1:1-21, 1 Peter 2:9-12, 2 Peter 3:11-18,

I. Peter’s greetings: (v1-2)

1. From Simon Peter – a slave and apostle of Jesus Christ.
2. To those who share the same precious faith.
3. Our faith is the result of the justice and fairness of Jesus Christ, our God and Savior.

II. God’s purpose for our growth (v3-4)

1. To enable us to live godly lives by His divine power.
2. To provide personal knowledge of His glory and excellence.
3. To share His Divine nature with us as we depart from world’s corruption as He promised us.
4. We should make every effort to response to God’s promise.

III. Growing process – diligence in: (v5- 11)

1. Exercising your faith.
2. Developing moral excellence.
3. Following up with knowledge(understanding).
4. Practicing self-control.
5. Enduring patient(steadfastness).
6. Aspiring godliness.
7. Exercising brotherly affection.
8. Developing Christian love
9. This process continues to make us more productive and useful in our knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.
