Jesus the Lamb of God

Scriptures: John 1:19-34

Introduction: Apostle John begins this Gospel book by revealing the true identity of Jesus Christ. We will focus today on the ministry of John the Baptist, which serves as a prelude and preparation to Jesus’ public ministry. He came as a witness to testify that Jesus is the Lamb of God and the Son of God.

A. John the Baptist Is a Herald for the Arrival of Jesus. (John 1:19-28)

1. John is confronted to clarify his authority and identity. (1:19-22, 24-25)
2. John prepares people’s heart to receive Jesus when He arrives. (1:23)
3. John is serving as a forerunner of Jesus. (1:26-28)

B. John the Baptist Comes to Introduce Jesus as the Lamb of God. (1:29-34)

1. The Significance of “Lamb” in Christ’ Unique Title — “Lamb of God”
