Discussion Questions:
1. Do you agree that American culture is very individualistic? Does that affect how believers view the church? How can we help others see our individuals in the collective church?
2. Why did God want Joshua to go through the filtering process (tribes, clans, household, individual) to draw out the offender, and not just point out Achan directly?
3. Why did the punishment of Achan extend to his children and his livestock when Deuteronomy 24:16 says, “Fathers shall not be put to death for their sons, nor shall sons be put to death for their fathers; everyone shall be put to death for his own sin alone.”?
4. Paul tells us his two ambitions in Romans 15:20 (ESV) “and thus I make it my ambition to preach the gospel, not where Christ has already been named, lest I build on someone else’s foundation,” and 2 Corinthians 5:9 (NASB) “Therefore we also have as our ambition, whether at home or absent, to be pleasing to Him.” Do you have any ambition for Christ?
